As a specialist division of Liberty Group, Liberty Corporate serves institutional clients across South Africa, offering retirement, investment, and risk benefit products.
With over 8,500 participating employers, the business operates in a regulated environment with intensive operational demands, particularly in contribution processing, billing, reconciliation, and claims workflows.
The Challenge
Falcorp was engaged to modernise Liberty Corporate’s contribution ecosystem through a scalable, automated digital platform.
We were selected to deliver a comprehensive payroll, billing, and reconciliation platform that integrates with Liberty’s dual FIS Compass policy administration environments.
The solution connects upstream to the IPP BPM platform to automate claims initiation and enhance operational efficiency through messaging, real-time calculations, and communication services.
The business faced mounting complexity, fragmented systems, and high manual workloads across thousands of employer groups.
Liberty Corporate processed over 8,000 monthly contribution updates across disparate platforms lacking a unified billing engine.
Manual and error-prone workflows drove inefficiency, while the expanding employer base strained legacy systems. Integration was required across two separate PAS environments and the IPP BPM platform.
Communication with employers lacked consistency, and the business needed flexibility to accommodate rule changes during the project lifecycle.
The Solution
Falcorp implemented a modular .NET platform with integrated automation, billing logic, and employer communications.
The solution included a core engine for managing payroll, billing, and reconciliation workflows, built on FIS Compass data structures and scheme rules. A shared calculation engine supported both billing and umbrella fund installations.
The platform generated both provisional and final billing statements, incorporated automated SMS and email updates to employers, and triggered claims processes via integration with the IPP BPM system.
An agile delivery model enabled fast, flexible implementation aligned to evolving process designs and performance targets.
The project followed an iterative approach responsive to changes in business and technical environments. Collaboration was central as processes and requirements evolved, with ongoing optimisation for performance and scalability.
The platform went live with over 400 active payrolls and is designed to support over 7,000 employer groups.

What we Achieved
A full suite of professional services was provided to support platform design, delivery, and continuous improvement.
Our scope included system architecture and design, development in .NET and C#, and end-to-end workflow implementation.
We enabled integration with PAS and BPM systems, built UI/UX frameworks for internal and employer-facing use, and implemented communications via SMS and email.
Reporting engines and visualisation tools were also developed, with ongoing support and enhancements provided post-launch.
The platform delivered immediate efficiency gains, improved employer interactions, and established a foundation for ongoing automation.
Provisional and final billing cycles were fully automated, and seamless reconciliation with Compass PAS was achieved.
The employer experience was significantly improved through structured and timely communications. The platform continues to evolve with enhancements in automation and user experience underway.
Adoption
The platform was successfully adopted by over 400 live payrolls and is actively scaling to support more than 7,000 employer groups, reflecting strong operational uptake.
